hey Will, I was surprised that the Vatican came out with such a strong endorsement of Charles Darwin himself. I took Benedict for a more 'traditional' type, and the message sounds like something John Paul II would have said. For the most part I agree; while evolution is still only a theory (though a well-supported one) I'm not really with the hard-liners who wave away all of the scientific community because their ideas are not explicitly stated in the Bible.
I agree that the statement was a little suprising. I believe that there statement was a positive one, it just seemed to have come out of nowhere.
