Bodhi was so inspired by the Blessing of the Animals today at Grace, that he tried to pass the love of God along to a skunk in the backyard. The skunk, not realizing that Bodhi was attempting to share the love of God, thought it was simply being chased by a big dog and did what skunks in that position very often do. The skunk sprayed Bodhi. And Bodhi smelled very, very bad. This is him after a very, very, very long bath that involved several gallons of dog shampoo, some peroxide, baking soda, dish detergent and everything else we found under the sink that we thought wouldn't harm him.
We are feeling (and smelling) much better. Remember, skunks are God's creatures too. Just stay away from them anyway.
peace,
will

Next time your dog tries to reach out to a skunk, try bathing him in tomato juice. He'll look horrible, but the smell will be gone.
HAD NO IDEA YOU HAD SKUNKS IN YOUR YARD, AS WELL. OUR LOVES CONTINUE TO INTERTWINE. ANNABELLE GOT SPRAYED LAST SUMMER - RIGHT NEXT TO HER NOSE. THE SMELL WAS LIKE BURNED HAIR. IT WAS AWEFUL. WE BOUGHT A PRODUCT AT NAYLORS FOR JUST THAT PROBLEM AND IT REALLY HELPED. ALSO, ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: SKUNKS ARE ATTRACTED TO BIRD SEAD AND LOVE IT! I HAD TWO FEEDERS FULL ALL THE TIME - NOT ANY MORE. WE HAD A SPACE UNDER A SMALL DECK THAT HAD A HOLE WHICH THE SKUNKS WERE USING AS THEIR SUMMER HOME AND WE HAVE SINCE CLOSED IT UP. THE SMELL ACTUALLY GOT INTO THE HOUSE AND I HAD TO CLEAN ALL COUNTER SPACE WITH A STRONG BLEACH SOLUTION. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. YES, SKUNKS ARE GOD'S CREATURES; BUT BOY, DO THEY STINK! :) KATHY
